The 37th running of the European Two-man Bobsleigh Senior’s Cup
was held at the Olympic Bobsleigh Track in Igls on 25 February 2017.

The competition is held every year and is open to male and female athletes with prizes awarded for the overall male & female winners and for the winners of the ‘older class’.  It is normally held in February or March once the IBSF World Cup and World Championships have been completed. There are 2 training days (Thursday & Friday) with the race on Saturday morning following IBSF rules with slight modifications to accommodate ‘older’ athletes! The main differences are the maximum weight of the sled and athletes is increased from 390Kgs to 400Kgs and the use of FIBT steel runners is not mandatory. A very sociable dinner and prize giving is held that evening!

This year we shared the track with the first ever European Senior’s Cup for Skeleton athletes. 17 bobsleigh teams competed in the competition including 1 ladies team and 8 teams in the “older class”. We also welcomed teams from the USA and New Zealand. Training started on Thursday afternoon with 3 runs available to everyone followed by a social ‘meet & greet’ in the Hotel Isserwirt that evening. Another 4 training runs were available on Friday followed by the Team Captains Meeting and Race Draw.
